Chevrolet currently offers two versions of the Chevy Tahoe Police Package, four-wheel drive version and two-wheel drive version.

Chevrolet refers to the four-wheel (4WD) Chevy Tahoe version of the "Special Service Vehicle (SSV). This version of the Chevy Tahoe may be used for purposes other than activities and rapid response because of the high center of gravity, which gives more chance of overturning at high speeds.

Chevrolet refers to two-wheel drive (2WD) version - also known as rear wheel drive (RWD) versions - as a "police pursuit vehicle (PPV). This version of the Chevy Tahoe can be used for all purposes, including activities and rapid response.

The focus is this car is less than a four-wheel drive version and the ride height is an inch smaller. Highway Patrol agencies prefer two-wheel drive version, as a fighter and remote reactions are common.
